Spring has Sprung at GEMS!

The halls are alive with School Spirit at GEMS! When the weather begins to change and kids are anxious to get outside and enjoy the sun, what do you do when there are still 10 minutes left to lunch and everyone is done eating?

If you’re Mrs. Shuttle, you get creative and play music to dance to, recognize students as “celebrity of the day” to acknowledge their respectful and responsible behavior, or play a game of Tic-Tac-Go!!!

“Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together make this world a beautiful garden.”

And what about in the classroom?  Even though we may be longing to head outside where the sun is shining and the birds are chirping, students are working hard and following our school-wide expectations of being respectful, responsible and safe.  To acknowledge that hard work, students are earning classroom celebrations.  In Mrs. Matas’ 1st grade, they celebrated with a glow party!

And in the 7th and 8th grade, it was a student vs staff basketball game and a game of knockout.

During an elementary assembly, we celebrated by hitting some beach balls in the air!  Even the slight spring breeze didn’t dampen the fun!

And what happens when we know Spring Break is around the corner?  Have a Spirit Week, of course!  Crazy Hair Day, Dress Like a Teacher Day and Decades Day to name a few.

Nothing warms the heart more than seeing a lot of smiling faces!

Happy Spring from GEMS!
